Beyond the Pale February 21, 2006 E. Robinson 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was laughing from the beginning of this DVD to the end. I saw Jim Gaffigan for the first time when his "Beyond the Pale" routine debuted on Comedy Central Jan. 29th. I didn't have anything to do that night, so I figured I'd watch the first 10 minutes, and if he wasn't funny, turn of the tv and go to bed. 10 minutes passed...then 20 minutes...then 30...well, you get my point, right? Anyway, the bottom line is Jim Gaffigan is hilarious. The DVD is definitely worth buying, and I strongly recommend buying the CD for your car. Well...on second thought, don't buy the CD to listen to in your car. It's a little too dangerous to be laughing at jokes while behind the wheel. But, like I said before, the DVD is wonderful. It has 28 extra minutes of Jim's routine that didn't air on Comedy Central, along with a few bonus features, such as the hilarious "Hot Pocket" extra. It takes a lot of talent to make an audience laugh just by talking, changing the tone of your voice, and facial expressions. Jim Gaffigan has that talent.
Died laughing while eating my hot pocket.... November 10, 2006 Annie Levay (Buffalo, NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Between Jim Gaffigan and James Cunningham I can't stand upright anymore! Jim is another amazing comic whose honest and refreshing work keeps you up at night, gets you in trouble at work, and makes your kids think you've lost your mind! So worth every cent!
Very funny, however... November 17, 2006 E. Parker (Chandler, AZ USA) 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I really like Gaffigan's material, his delivery and all, he is hilarious, however, he uses his high whiny voice WAY too much. It gets irritating after a few tracks. If he'd just speak in his normal voice all the time, I'd give this a better rating.
not the DVD! March 9, 2007 Amy Ezrin (new york, ny) 2 out of 10 found this review helpful
this commedian is hysterical. totally fabulous act. however, i thought i was buying the DVD. this is only an audio CD. was really upset that that wasn't clear to me. don't buy the audio version. the DVD of the same performance has much more material (stuff is cut from audio CD) and you really want to watch Gaffigan's expressions. felt a bit mislead by Amazon on this one.

It is in the delivery of Wonder-bread/mid-western humor that makes this guy a comic gem. Today, we had a birthday cake at our monthly birthday celebration at work. I didn't think much of it until someone handed me a piece and then I just burst out laughing. WHAT DO THEY CALL THIS, CAKE?
