Sound Of Madness ..... Music To My Ears August 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a one of the best cd's I have purchased in quite some time! My favorite track is the title track. One of those songs that has an adrenaline pumping beat. LOVE IT! Great cd and the limited club edition is a great value with the fan club membership and and 3 extra tracks! Worth every penny....
Amazing! 4.5 July 2, 2008 I wasn't sure they could out-do themselves with this album but they did. It's a lot harder than the last album, and has some of the feel of their first album. The Limited Edition is worth the extra bucks for the bonus tracks.
A must have album this year!
Madness Sounds Good July 2, 2008 *"Devour." Fast, high-tempo, with pretty good lyrics and melody. Gets a little repetitive, though. *"The Sound of Madness." A moderate song with great percussion and guitar, but a weaker melody. *"Second Chances." A slower song than the previous ones, but still has a good tempo, percussion, and some good powerful vocals. *"Cry for Help." Faster song with awesome guitars, percussion, and lyrics. *"The Crow and the Butterfly." Slower, with strong chorus. *"If You Only Knew." This seems like a typical, upbeat rock song. It has good vocals, but seems watered-down. *"Sin With a Grin." Much stronger with great guitars, percussion, and awesome lyrics and melody. *"What a Shame." A hefty downbeat song; sounds good. *"Cyanide Sweet Tooth Suicide." High-tempo hard rock; pretty darn awesome! *"Breaking Inside." Another softer song, with strong guitar. Pretty good. *"Call Me." No, this is not a cover of Blondie. This is a soft piano song with rock lyrics. Pretty good, sentimental end for the album.
If you have the "Fan Club Edition," you get the following bonus tracks:
*"I Own You." Very good hard rock song; awesome guitars, percussion, and vocals. *"The Energy." Another good heavy track; good lyrics and melody. *"Son of Sam." High-tempo song with good guitars and great, wicked lyrics.
Overall, this album is pretty good (and contains some awesome bonus tracks, if you get the "Fan Club Edition"). It has a few good strong metal songs and a few good ballads. Some songs are a little blander, especially when compared to Shinedown's last album ("Us and Them," which I still like the best), but is better than their first ("Leave a Whisper"). I could certainly get used to this album.
Best so far... July 5, 2008 I like all 3 Shinedown albums, but this one is definitely my favorite. I think it's the best showcase of all their strongest elements put together. Great musicianship with heavy guitars, great melodies and amazing harmonies, not to mention some extremely clever and well crafted lyrics. If you like anything you've heard from these guys, I highly recommend this album. And "Son of Sam" alone is worth the price of this edition.
Shinedown CD July 20, 2008 Really enjoying the album! It was shipped out immediately. I got it faster than I expected. I would highly recommend buying this CD.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann
