Utterly amazing! February 4, 2006 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This CD, Amore, is a rare and perfect match of material, arrangement, interpretation and most importantly, VOICE.
For example, track 4, "Mi Manchi": the sad, slow start of the song builds to an anguished climax then ends in resignation, with all of the elements fusing together to bring you along for the ride. It is a song that bring back memories of any friend you've lost touch with, a true love lost, every departed loved one, or your unspoken passions.
Every nuance of the lyrics is brought to light by Andrea's interpretation: his ragged tones, the whispered sighs, the purity of the long, held notes, the wavers in the voice, the dejected emotion punctuated with utter frustration, as if he could bring the person back to him simply by the sheer force of his will and emotions.
... and that is just ONE song on an album studded with 13 other jewels!
How do you say "utterly amazing" in Italian? Bocelli's AMORE.
Unbelievably Great! February 8, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
It is very hard to describe this cd with words.. This Cd is pure magic! Bocelli has one of the greatest singing voices of all time, and he shows us why on this cd. The first track Amapola is so beautiful, and it is just a hint of the greatness of tracks to come, every track is excellent! My favorites so far are AMapola,Can't Help Falling in Love, Mi Manchi and the exquisite Because we Believe! Because we believe is so remarkable, Bocelli's vocals soar to the heavens, the arrangment, the music, the lyrics, the singing, this cd is phenomenable! Surely to become a classic, this cd is one of the best to come around in years! If i could give it 10 stars i would...
Ignore the Snobberry .. This Is A Wonderful CD! March 20, 2006 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Although there are very few negative reviews, I am struck by the comments of a few that either this was 'a waste of a wonderful voice,' that the songs 'didn't move' them, or some other nonsense! The fact is, this is a phenomenal CD!
Yes, I could have done without the monotony of yet another sound-alike, syrupy performance by Kenny G (when is this guy's 15 minutes going to end?). In fact, after hearing the first note blown by Kenny G, I made certain that the song was on permanent skip. But almost without exception, every OTHER song is first rate. Who would have thought that I would ever want to listen to a song that includes Christina Aguilera, although at times I feel she is trying to one-up Mr. Bocelli (on HIS CD, no less). Still, the tune "Somos Novios (It's Impossible)" is enjoyable, and Bocelli's voice makes it thus.
This is a collection of a few of the best easy-listening tunes of the 60s and 70s, and to hear Bocelli glide through them effortlessly makes this a wise investment of a mere $12.96! "Les Feuilles Mortes" is an interesting yet memorable redux of "Autumn Leaves," which to now had been relegated to the likes of Liberace-esque piano maestros. The only song that doesn't really work here is Elvis anthem "Can't Help Falling In Love (Fools Rush In)." I agree with a previous reviewer that it is hard to listen to this song from someone other than Elvis. It's just a song that I always associate with him.
Discount everything I have written to this point if you choose but the closing number, and its Italian language encore, are worth every penny paid for this CD! "Ama Credi E Vai (Because We Believe)" is simply breathtaking and was written by Mr Bocelli to sing at the Opening Ceremonies of the Torino Olympic Games! Andrea mentioned that once he heard the first few notes from Mr Foster's piano, it took him all of 10 minutes to write the lyric, and that was a sign to him that the lyric was divinely provided. One of the most inspirational and rapturous songs that I can remember, this song will cause you to stop and know that there is something greater than ourselves to believe in!
Bravo, Mr Bocelli! This CD is an achievement.
Amore' is a Great Album April 30, 2006 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have to say first I don't speak any of the languages of this album but I know the English Version of all the songs in the Album. The song I was most impressed with was "It's Impossible"called Somos Novios in the Album.I was so impresed with this Duet of Andrea Bocelli and Christina Aguilera I couldn't stop replaying it over and over and am listening to it as I write this.My next favorite was Amapola it is a song that brings back many memories of my Dad singing the English version of this around the house when I was a little kid.It went Amapola my pretty little poppy your like a lovely flower so sweet so devine etc.But the whole Album is Great and I hope wins a Foreign Language Grammy and Somos Novios a Latin Grammy for Best song in a Duet.
Heavens to Betsy!!!!!! February 1, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Oh. My. God. I am about to pass out with ecstacy and joy listening to this amazing album. All of my senses are on fire. I thought I liked Bocelli before I heard this cd (I own a few of his others) but I had no idea!! He is spectacular. This isn't opera. This isn't torch singing. This is pure brilliance. This is like Dean Martin, Jacques Brel, Eric Clapton, and Harry Connick, Jr. all rolled into one. I've never heard more beautiful vocals in my life. Seriously. This must be what heaven is like. Who needs chocolate or sex when you can have Andrea Bocelli?
