5 out of 5 stars Bravo!!!   July 16, 2008

E. Lynn Harris has done it again! Although this book didn't focus on his usual subject matter, he shows that he is a master at what he does and that he is capable of doing it all. Hats off to you, E. Lynn for an excellent read!

5 out of 5 stars The perfect title   July 17, 2008

Just as Brady wanted a father all these years, I've been patiently holding my breath waiting for an E. Lynn Harris book. FINALLY! The story line to this book was such an easy read! I read it in 2 days but could have been done in hours but I was trying to allow E. Lynn the opportunity to savor in my literary soul! The secrets, the lies, the hopes and the dreams of this story can't help but make you sit back as a reader and evaluate your own life. Tell the truth, be committed to God and don't go astray from your track of life....all great lessons but how do we fight the challenges and sins that face us day by day? E. Lynn Harris does a great job of showing that as well as the consequences of facing life each and every day. I can't comment on the book without telling it....all a real reader needs to know is ~ read it, it's a great book...there's nothing like the writing and the creative juices of this talented author!

I just could not get into this book, it was all over the place. Book did not really get good to me until the last few chapters.

5 out of 5 stars Great read   July 19, 2008

As usual, E. Lynn Harris brings life to new characters we hope to see much more of. Camryn Bledsoe has created an excellent life for herself and her son, college football star Brady Bledsoe but the secrets she has threaten not only her life but her relationship with her son.

With enough storylines to keep the story moving and some we hope to hear more about in future stories, Mr. Harris has you turning pages so quickly that before you know it the book is over and you're left hungering for more.

Just enough dialogue, just enough sex, just enough storylines makes for another outstanding E. Lynn Harris novel.

4 out of 5 stars .........This is just "TOO GOOD!!!"   July 31, 2008

Let me start by saying I am a big fan of E. Lynn Harris, but I not one of those people that feels their favorite author can never write a bad novel. For me reading is like sex.....You don't want to find yourself in the middle of it going, "this is horrible, will it ever be over" or get to the end and think "what a huge waste of time".

I am sure you are probably reading this review not to get a synoposis of the book, Amazon does a good job with that, but rather if it is worth your time......well to say this book is a page turner is an understatement. I purchased this book on Tuesday night from the bookstore, began reading it Wednesday on my lunch break around 1:00pm and had finished by 10:30pm that same evening. ( Yes, I left work, even went to the grocery store and microwaved my family some dinner). Just to give you a reference I have another recently released novel written by one of our favorites that I have been trying to read for the last 3 months and just cannot get through the first 5 chapters.

With that said.......Just too Good, was just that "TOO GOOD"!. The book grabs you from the first page and does not let go. It took a minute to get some of the characters straight. I had to keep flipping back and forth, but it soon becomes clear, one of those "OH, OKAY" moments. It is different from the "traditional" E. Lynn Harris book which gives you a look into the trials and tribulations of being a black gay male in America. But there is still lots of drama, deceit, sex and humor. Being a football fan myself, I enjoyed getting a look into the "high stakes" dealings of college football. ( Lynn thanks for the shout out to my alma mater..."GO RATTLERS!".)

For the die-hard E. Lynn fan, in true E. Lynn fashion, there is a cameo from one of our favorite characters. For those of you newbies, you can still pick up this book without having read previous books. I read one time that basketball players, when at the free throw line will maybe wipe their forehead, or wink or something to let their kids know they are thinking about them. That is how I feel when I read one of E. Lynn's books and there is a character from a previous book. Its like a secret shared between the two of us that the other characters dont know. You find yourself saying "if they only knew what I know"!

Like good sex, this book will leave you wanting more! I can definately see some of the characters in future books ( Delmar, Naomi, Raquel ).

Mr. Harris, if you are reading this, if you ever decided to venture into mystery/crime, Raquel is your girl!
