Product Description
Now every kid can write like a Wimpy Kid! An exciting companion to the bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. “First of all, let me get something straight: This is a journal, not a diary.” This innovative interactive journal based on Greg Heffley’s own “diary” lets kids express themselves in an exciting new way. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book, kids will be asked: What was the best dream you ever had? The worst thing you ever ate? The best secret you ever heard? The most trouble you ever got in for something that wasn’t even your fault to begin with? This Do-It-Yourself Book features art throughout, along with ruled and blank pages for readers to create their own stories, keep their own diaries, and record their favorites and least faves. Includes a bonus full-color comics section featuring the collected cartoons of Greg Heffley and his best friend, Rowley. Includes 16 pages of full-color comics! “Move over, Harry Potter. . . . There’s a new set of titles dominating the bestseller list for kids’ chapter books, and there’s nothing ‘fantasy’ about these.”—Andrea Yeats on NPR’s All Things Considered “Perfectly pitched wit and believably self-centered hero . . .”—The New York Times “Charming and hilarious from the get-go. . . . [Kinney has] an uncanny eye for the depredations and triumphs of middle school life.” —The Boston Globe “The writing is sharp, and the artwork, though deceptively simple, is both entertaining and expressive . . . adding comic punch to these funny-because-they’re-true scenes . . .” —Bookpage “Perfect for someone about to go to middle school, perfect for parents to help ease their child into this new phase. . . . Kinney has done a wonderful service for preteens by talking about all those awful, embarrassing, and good moments.” —The San Diego Union Tribune

Great book for even early readers. October 13, 2008 10 out of 16 found this review helpful
My son first discovered the Wimpy Kid books when he was in 1st grade. He loved the first two, and when we saw there was a new one, he wanted it right away. (Before he even opened it, he saw on the back cover that another new one was coming out, and he got even more excited). This book is more of the same (which is a good thing), and it adds a lot of blank areas within the story where it encourages readers to use their imagination and add to the author's story.
My son starting reading this book in the store, and didn't put it down until he had finished it. The last half of the book is just lined pages for the reader to write their own stories. I am going to encourage my son to write in it a little every day.
I can strongly recommend this book to parents of children not only in middle school, but elementary school too.
Granddaughter, 9 yrs, LOVES This Book October 14, 2008 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
My lovely granddaughter read the first two Wimpy Kid books and enjoyed them immensely so we ordered this one and she absolutely loves it. There are so many ideas, suggestions, things to think about and things to do with this book, to make it the child's own creation. Can't go wrong. We've also pre-ordered the next one, can't wait!
Great Book!! October 24, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
My son got the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" for his 11th Birthday. He loved it and he is not big on reading! I have since bought him the whole collection and he reads everynight!
We want normal books! November 8, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I write this review not only in my name but also on behalf of a group of my friends. We all love Wimpy Kid series and we have read the two previous Wimpy Kid diaries. So, naturally we were all excited about the newest title in the series. However, we were rather disappointed in it. This is not like the previous books that were full of funny stories. Most of this book you have to write yourself! Well, not all of us are so creative to write our own books. We rather read them! Well, we tried to fill out a few pages and let others read them, but it actually turned out to be a blunder and we got bored with it pretty fast... So, I guess, my message to the author of the book is to continue writing more Wimpy Kid diaries the way it was done before. I hope that the next book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), will be as interesting as the previous two. In the meantime, if you want to know what really rocks, check the series of Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 2
